Dollylina Part 10

Chapter 10: Underground

The next morning, we see the shoe, but no Dolly Pink nor Talen and Calumon.

"Feeling better, my dear?" a voice said.

Dolly, Talen and Calumon awoke to the sound of a whistling teapot. She lifted the sock off of her and looked around at her new surroundings.

"Where-Where are we?" asked Dolly in confusion.

Talen turned to see a blue-skinned girl with hair fades from yellow to magenta and a headband on her head, she wears a white t-shirt, chartreuse skirt that has a black shadow under it and a pair of white sneakers with red stripes. Alongside her was a tan-skinned dog with black ears and nose and wears a blue sleeveless shirt, dark blue pants, red sneakers and an orange hat with a frog on it.

The two came over to Dolly with a teapot and cups of tea, as Rachel said, "In my mom's kitchen, of course. I am Rachel Wilson and this is my roommate partner, Parappa the Rapper and we're snug and safe underground."

"We-we're underground?" asked Dolly.

"Yes," Rachel answered, as she poured Dolly a cup of tea. "Three feet under. My dad dug it with his own shovel." She handed Dolly the cup, as she said, "Here, drink this."

Parappa poured some for Talen and Calumon too as well as some for himself. "Here's your tea, little guys."

"Well," Dolly said, "at least that Cavity Goon won't find me down here."

"Nor his cronies." Calumon added while sipping his tea.

"You know something I don't understand." Rachel said. "Did you really think that you and your pets could survive the winter in that old shoe?" She laughed and said, "Honestly!"

"I-I wanna go home," Dolly said.

"So do me and Calumon," said Talen.

"Well, I'm afraid you'll have to wait here until spring, Dolly," Rachel said.

The three looked at the rainbow-haired gal in surprise, as Dolly said, "You know my name!"

"Oh, that was easy," said Rachel. "Me and Parappa know everything, like you were engaged to the Wonderwubb prince. Paul Pink, was it?"

"Well, almost," Dolly said.

Parappa began to pity his new friends as he said, "Really, what happened?"

Rachel interrupted him saying to Dolly, "That is so sad."

That caught Dolly's attention, as she asked, "What's sad?"

"That he was found stone-cold frozen dead in the snow," Rachel said, stirring the stew rapidly.

Those words made the girl in pink freeze while Talen and Calumon were shocked.

"But, of course you knew that." Rachel said.

"Rachel!" Parappa scolded.

"Oh no," Dolly muttered, dropping her cup of tea in shock, before Calumon caught her cup as she collapsed onto her makeshift bed and burst into tears. "Paul, no!" She cried.

"That is so sad," Rachel said.

"No, it's not true," Dolly cried. "You're lying! No!"

Dolly's anguished voice echoed out through the chimney where Riff-Raph, Arukenimon and Mummymon heard it all. This made Mummymon felt dreadfully sorry for Dolly even more, even felt guilty as his only yellow eye moisten sympathetically while he whispers to himself. "Oh dear... I'm so sorry, Dolliette..."

Arukenimon turned around. "Mummymon, what's gotten into you all the sudden?"

Mummymon quickly pulled himself together. "Oh... nothing, my dear, I'm fine." He didn't want to tell Arukenimon about his guilt on doing something against Dolly's will for the Cavity Goon just yet as he and Arukenimon continued to listen with Riff-Raph.

As Dolly continued crying with Talen and Calumon trying to comfort her, Rachel said, "Oh, Dolliette, please forgive me. Sometimes, she just blurts things out without thinking. You're still young though. There'll be another."

"He was perfect," Dolly sniffled.

"Nobody's perfect," Rachel said, as she walked off.

"Paul was the only one…"

Parappa gave a red shawl to Dolly, as Rachel said, "Now, put this on. We'll take these corn cakes to Sir Grodus. He lives just down the tunnel."

"I'd rather not," Dolly said sadly.

Rachel looked insulted, as she took the corn cakes out of the oven and said, "Parappa and I saved your life this very day and you'd rather not?"

Parappa made a sigh of relief under his breath.

Dolly sighed and said, "Very well."

Parappa smacked his forehead. He hated to go down the tunnel because it was plain scary. Even Talen and Calumon notice Dolly had one tear fall from her.

"One more thing: is it true that you have a beautiful voice?" asked Rachel.

"I really don't feel like singing," Dolly admitted.

Rachel had just finished pacing the corn cakes in a basket, as she said, "Oh, but you must sing for Sir Grodus. He loves sweet things. Come on." Dolly got up and went over to Rachel, who gave her the basket, as Rachel said, "Sir Grodus loves his corn cakes from the Wilson family."

Dolly, Talen and Calumon began to follow, but stopped as she came to a realization.

"Paul was looking for me," she said sadly. "That's what must've happened."

Parappa felt sorry for her as he gently escorts Dolly and her two friends as they follow Rachel down the tunnel.
